Wilson Reading Program

The Wilson Reading System (WRS) is a research based, structured literacy program designed for students who require more intensive literacy instruction. Through the 12-step program, students receive instruction in: phonemic awareness, decoding and word study, sight word recognition, spelling, fluency, vocabulary, oral expression and comprehension. Before starting the program, their reading skills are evaluated. Students are then taught in small groups with others at similar skill levels. Lessons are created for each student and skills are built over time in a particular order. The use of their visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile senses help students make connections between sounds and words, furthering their understanding of the use of the English language.
